Hollywood, history, and conspiracy theory will be the topic of upcoming public lectures offered later this spring.
Author Gordon B. Arnold will discuss how the film industry’s interest in conspiratorial themes that reflected and shaped American political visions from the Cold War to 9/11 and beyond. Included in the discussion are such films as Invasion of the Body Snatchers,The Manchurian Candidate, JFK, The X-Files and more.
These events are free and open to the public. Come hear and discuss. The schedule is as follows:
- Forbes Library in Northampton, Massachusetts, on Wednesday, April 15, at 6:30 p.m.
- Brooks Memorial Library in Brattleboro, Vermont, on Wednesday, May 13, at 7 p.m.
- Thomas Crane Public Library in Quincy, Massachusetts, on June 3, at 7 p.m.
Gordon Arnold is the author of Conspiracy Theory in Film, Television, and Politics (Praeger Publishers, 2008) and a professor of liberal arts at Montserrat College of Art in Beverly, Massachusetts.
